Crisis Intervention

MCYS Youth and Family Services provide a 24-hour, on-call crisis counselor, 7 days a week. Our professional counselor will only respond to calls about youth who are runaways or experiencing family violence. This service is coordinated with the Texas Youth Hotline and Montgomery County Juvenile Detention.

Texas Youth Hotline:

1-800-98-YOUTH

In case of an emergency, please call us immediately! Hotline services include:
  • 24-hour crisis intervention
  • Short-term youth residential care. See Shelter Services.
Teen Suicide Prevention
According to the CDC, in the past 60 years the suicide rate for males ages 15-24 has quadrupled while it has doubled for females of the same age group. 18-24 year olds are known to think about suicide more often than any other age group. 90% of people who kill themselves have a diagnosable mental health disorder, commonly a depressive or substance abuse disorder.

The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) is a nationally recognized provider of educational curriculums and training programs for students, educators, youth workers, and parents, focused on raising awareness of these alarming statistics, and working to reverse the trend through effective prevention.

Runaway and Family Violence Services
Services for youth are aimed at reconnecting youth with their families.

Services include crisis intervention that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to all runaway and family violence cases in Montgomery County. Counselors meet with the family and youth to discuss the crisis, create a plan of action to alleviate family stress and tensions and reunite the family.

When family reunification is not immediately possible, BridgeWay Youth Shelter offers up to 21 days of temporary shelter for the youth. This allows for a "cooling off" period for the youth and their family to assist in resolution of underlying issues that lead up to the crisis. The primary goal is to reunify the family, strengthen family relationships and improve communication. Learn more about
BridgeWay or contact us at: (866) 892-1132.
