Universal Child Abuse Prevention – UCAP

MCYS Education Services are provided throughout the community to create awareness of the variety of offerings provided by MCYS. Our goal is to help educate youth, families, professionals, and the community on the various challenges faced in childhood and adolescence, and to partner with us to provide our children, up to age 18, with a bridge from today’s challenges to tomorrow’s successes.

Childhood and Adolescent Classes and Groups
Montgomery County Youth Services is dedicated to helping children and adolescents, up to age 18, to develop the necessary skills and strategies to deal with the complexities of life. Our programs are currently under development. Future class and group offerings will include:

  • Anger Management (TBD)
  • Coping and Life Skills (TBD)
  • Grief (TBD)
  • Parenting (TBD)

Court Ordered Classes

Professional Training Series
MCYS offers a number of classes to the community on variety of professional and youth related topics. Some of our classes are eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). To receive any CEUs, the entire session must be attended. Partial CEUs will not be provided. For more information about CEU eligibility, please contact our Conroe office at (936) 756-8682. Speakers
Members of the MCYS staff are available to speak at your next gathering. We regularly attend meetings for the purpose of:

  • School staff development
  • Community club awareness
  • Classroom presentations
  • Health Fairs

Our speakers are prepared to discuss a variety of topics, including presentations about:

  • MCYS Impact in the Community
  • MCYS Youth and Family Services
  • MCYS Shelter Services
  • About Youth Development

Universal Child Abuse Prevention (UCAP)
MCYS makes available, materials that help educate our community, and provide healthy, safe ways to raise children. The goal of this program is to reduce or eliminate child abuse in our community. Universal Prevention Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Public awareness campaigns
  • Parent education - See Parenting Articles.
  • FRED Campaign – Decision Making Strategy
  • Printed information – MCYS is happy to provide printed materials for distribution at your class or event. Printed information covers topics that include, but are not limited to:
    • Abuse Awareness
    • Anger
    • Communication
    • Health
    • How to Deal With Stress
    • Internet Safety
    • Maturity
    • Parenting Tips
    • Preventing Substance Abuse
    • Prevention of Bullying
    • Safety
    • Spanish materials
